I have a suggestion for your husband. If you add hot pepper to the bird seed, it will repel all mammals, but the birds don't mind it. I've used it to foil a rascally raccoon - the poor thing ran screaming into the night and never returned. There are some companies that package suet cakes and loose seed with the pepper already in it. Just be aware that if you are pouring the seed into the feeder, you don't want to inhale the dust.

I remember looking at the syllabus and course catalogs when I was contemplating an MLIS at CUA and wondering what the heck metadata was. Just that one word (repeated so many times without a contextual clue as to what it was)was so panicking!! I told everyone at home I didn't think I could make it if I didn't understand what the syllabus was on about. My mom looked at me over her reading glasses and "Its just a word. You know how to read. Look it up!"
I felt much better after that!!:)
